SD-OCT images of a 65-year-old man with idiopathic epiretinal membrane (iERM). At baseline, SD-OCT shows presence of EIFL (black star) and absence of the foveal pit (EIFL thickness, 56 μm). Both the inner/outer segment (IS/OS) junction and external limiting membrane (ELM) are preserved (visual acuity [VA] 20/20). After 6 months, (B) EIFL thickness increased to 61 μm (VA 20/20). (C) After 12 months, EIFL thickness increased to 87 μm (VA 20/20). (D) After 24 months, EIFL thickness further increased to 104 μm and VA declined (VA 20/30). The IS/OS junction is disrupted (white star) and ELM is preserved. (E) Non EIFL Group. SD-OCT images of a 61-year-old man with iERM. At baseline, SD-OCT shows absence of EIFL, presence of the foveal pit, disrupted IS/OS junction (white arrow) (disruption length, 57 μm), and preserved ELM (VA 20/30). (F) After 12 months, disrupted IS/OS junctional length (white arrow) increased (disruption length, 92 μm) and ELM was preserved (VA 20/30) (G) Non EIFL Group.
